Sociology department condemns administration actions

After an ad hoc meeting debating the dismissal of accused terrorist Hassan Diab, Carleton University’s department of sociology and anthropology issued a four-point resolution condemning the actions of the school’s administration and ordering the reinstatement of the sociology professor, according to department chair Peter Gose.

Carleton announced on July 28 that Hassan Diab, an Ottawa professor who was released on bail after being arrested in connection with the 1980 bombing of a Paris synagogue, will be relieved immediately of his teaching duties for a summer Carleton course.
 
Carleton issued a press release stating Diab would be replaced by an unnamed full-time faculty member, who has experience teaching the introductory sociology class (SOCI 1002).
