I was born in Toronto, raised in Kitchener and grew up in Guelph.  Upon completion of high school diploma I took a year off from my studies to take part in an exchange program with Canada World Youth, which had me living and working in Uruguay for three months.

After a stint at a steel mill I travelled to Southeast Asia for three months where I found myself stuck in Cambodia for two of those three months.  Throughout my final year of high school and my travels I always carried my camera (Canon 10D) with me in the hopes of developing the skills necessary for photojournalism.

Although my parents believed I was destined to be a biomedical engineer like my father, I fell in love with journalism after volunteering with the Edmonton Journal in high school.  After being accepted into both Carleton and Ryerson, I opted for Carleton, preferring Ottawa’s smaller size, which is not much different from that of my hometown - Edmonton, Alta.

I am currently in my second year of Carleton’s journalism program and am also working towards a major in political sciences. I train with Carleton’s

Nordic ski team and am actively involved in Carleton’s Journalists for Human Rights chapter.

I am a fourth-year journalism and law student from Whitby. You will usually spot me in the office with a coffee and Blackberry in hand.

I fell in love with Ottawa after visiting the city many times as a child for school trips and hockey tournaments, so I decided to come to the nation’s capital for Carleton’s journalism school. My long-term goal has always been to go to law school and become a lawyer. But journalism is such an important part of my life now that I am determined to specialize in media law when I become a lawyer.

My name is Brittany but you can call me Britt. I’m an earl-grey tea drinking, vintage movie junkie and the features editor for the Charlatan. I’m currently a third-year journalism student with a minor in political science and history.

Along with interning at the teen magazine Faze, I was an editorial intern for FASHION Magazine this past summer in Toronto — a short commute from my hometown, Mississauga. I was also the story coordinator for one of the two magazines the Charlatan published last year. If you’d like to write for features or pitch an idea, feel free to contact me at features@charlatan.ca.

I’m Erin, but feel free to call me Er (pronounced “air”). Although I hate to admit it, I can often be caught dropping, spilling, banging or falling so don’t be alarmed by the loud noises that often resonate after me wherever I go.

Soccer has always been my go-to sport as I started playing when I was five, but I also love to watch hockey and golf. My favourite movies hands-down are Dirty Dancing (hello young Patrick Swayze), and Armageddon (It’s epic and makes me tear up every time).

I am a fourth-year journalism student with a minor in business. I love ultimate Frisbee, running, drawing cartoon pictures of animals and baking – namely cakes for post-mort birthday celebrations. I spent the summer after first year backpacking from Mexico City to Panama City, and I plan to spend my next exploring the balmy beaches and vibrant cultures of Thailand and Singapore.

During my time at the Charlatan, I hope to make everyone love layout as much as I do, so if you ever have any questions feel free to stop by and visit me in the far corner of the office.
